The almighty dollar is falling and no one wants to be stuck with the hot potato. "Antique store owners in lower Manhattan, ticket vendors at India's Taj Mahal and Brazilian business executives heading to China all have one thing in common these days: They don't want U.S. dollars." Perhaps the dollar could be used to invest in people's votes... it's not like they are being used anyways. In Tarmarac, FL it would seem that no voters showed up Wednesday night to cast a ballot in an annexation referendum. Why you ask? Ignorant people, who constantly say "my vote doesn't matter." Perhaps if we could sell our votes we could fix both of these problems?
On the international stage, China is lashing out on the human rights record of the United States. Yup, you read that correctly... China said, "The invasion of Iraq by U.S. troops has produced the biggest human rights tragedy and the greatest humanitarian disaster in the modern world." Thats it, nothing more specific... In rebuke, "The United States looks forward to the day when the Chinese press, NGOs and civil society are allowed to operate freely and to voice open criticism of China's practices." So what will come of all this? Absolutely nothing!
But speaking of human rights... what is being done to protect school children?!? In this day and age of children bringing guns to school, gang problems, and ensuing violence between students and against teachers, perhaps teachers should be commissioned as special police? This is exactly the plan in Jamaica. While the teachers would have the power to search and hold law-breaking students until police arrive, they would not carry guns or handcuffs. Wait... no weapons, no ability to detain physically... whats the point?
Then again, having teachers with guns might not be a good idea...
And for you social media gurus, AOL announced today that it will buy Bebo, which has total global membership of more than 40 million, for $850 million which has total global membership of more than 40 million. Meanwhile, most Americans are now trying to figure out what Bebo is now that it made the news.
