Who ever thought China was this hot? In fact, it seems that the county is in the midst of a sexual revolution. "Every weekend, lusty college couples make a beeline past greasy spoon restaurants and bootleg video game shops for the dim hotel lobbies to book three-hour blocks of privacy." I always think of China with unisex Mao suites and drab austerity. The important thing to take away from this? "At a shabby basement hotel the sign on the wall warned: 'If the linens are too dirty, you will lose your deposit.'"
For an interesting cultural twist, we go to Xinran: "As for sex, many Chinese women used to think British men never talk about it, because the translated books they read contained nothing of the subject. Many western men, on the other hand, have considered Chinese women uninterested in sex, oblivious to the fact that they had married women brought up in the old China, when the idea of enjoying sex was very, very bad behaviour."
And straight from Shanghaiist... the image to the right!
Others who know about being screwed... at least out of fair elections is the Russian people. Dmitry Medvedev will be taking the reigns from Putin, surprise surprise since he was hand picked. Lets see what the Russian people have to say about the election:
Former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, "The result doesn't matter as this is an illegitimate transfer of power." Escorted by a dozen riot police as he spoke to journalists near Red Square, former world chess champion Garry Kasparov carried a plastic shopping bag that read, "I am not participating in this farce."21 year old student Renata Mukhammetshina, "All of my friends voted for Medvedev, they say he's been elected already and want to be part of majority."
But perhaps we should take some cues from how the Russian's hold elections. Polling stations offered enticements to voters: discounted food, office supplies, concerts and flowers. In Medvedev's native St. Petersburg, some voters quaffed bargain beer at their polling place.
And the Columbian border may soon be violated by Chavez as he has massed military units along the border and said that "A military incursion on Venezuelan soil would be a cause for war.'' Can you blame him, Columbia hunted down someone in Ecuador and then entered the country with military forces. Who would dare allow their country's sovereignty to be treated like that... well at least who would let a country other than the United States do it? Join the Debate!
